Since the 1960s, commodity trading has played a pivotal role in geopolitics by influencing global trade, political relationships, and regional power dynamics. The control over essential commodities such as oil, gas, metals, and agricultural products directly impacts national security and international alliances. Political upheavals, riots and coups d’état, often disrupt commodity supply chains, forcing shifts in trading strategies. We will examine over 60 years of historical and geopolitical transformations, to better understand our current world.
